Teaching moment: Pilates back stretches for lower back pain
Lower back pain often happens when we move the joints around the fifth lumbar vertebra too much. So we need to stretch these joints less and other joints more.
There’s a right way to do back stretches for lower back pain. Joseph Pilates taught us how. If practised diligently with the right cueing, Pilates exercises and stretches will teach us to move and exercise with a much-reduced risk of back injury.
